In general, to have a program approved for continuing education, you must submit the following information:

  • An overall summary of the program/course that includes each topic to be covered and the amount of time spent on each topic shall be submitted electronically. Ideally, this will be in the form a detailed syllabus.
  • Course materials including, but not limited to, presentation materials such as Powerpoint slides, handouts, and lesson plans. The OSFM retains the right to ask for additional information, if necessary, to validate the training.
  • For in-house classes, seminars, or conferences, instructor information must be provided. This information may be in a resume format and must include the instructor’s name, current title or position, subject matter experience and instructor qualifications.

It is recommended that all materials be submitted at least 6 weeks in advance.

If you do not see a course listed as being approved and you feel as though it addresses the job performance requirements for fire inspectors, fire investigators or fire and life safety educators, please contact us.

The Office of State Fire Marshal, an ICC Preferred Provider, issues ICC CEUs for OSFM/SCFA approved trainings: http://ppp.iccsafe.org/.
